The area between here and the train station is both the crudest and liveliest part of central Florence, its hub centered around the Mercato Centrale. The vast covered food hall built in stone, iron and glass by Guiseppe Mengoni at the end of the 19th century and one of the most authentic and tastiest places to visit for picnic ingredients.
